Part Time 0.5 FTE, Fixed Term until 31st December 2018
Dr Frederick Lanchester (1868-1946) was one of Britain's greatest engineers and inventors. The Lanchester Library at Coventry University holds the largest collection of Frederick's work including notebooks, blueprints, sketchbooks, photographs, patents and correspondence.
We are looking for an experienced archivist to enhance access to the Lanchester Collection through the cataloguing and preservation of items in the Collection, and through participation in related dissemination activities. This work will support the Lanchester Interactive Archive project which is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Coventry University and charitable donations.
The successful applicant will be required to provide archival description of primary materials and coordinate the preparation of materials for conservation and digitization with external service providers. They will also be expected to assist with the promotion and exploitation of the collection alongside the project team and volunteers. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills along with excellent IT and communication skills are required. Experience of supervising volunteers, use of social media for promotional purposes, as well as experience of digitation projects would all be an advantage.
