The Disruptive Media Learning Lab (DMLL) is a new cross-university experimental unit comprising of academics, learning technologists, subject librarians, educational developers and researchers. The Lab is based in the heart of the campus in a newly refurbished space, uniquely designed to promote open dialogues, collaborative work and exploratory play for all interested in defining the 21st century University.
The DMLL is looking to recruit ambitious, creative and hard-working people who will lead and contribute to innovative research, experimentation and innovation in digital media. We are particularly interested in hearing from people who have expertise in the following areas: technology enhanced learning, pervasive, mobile and game technology and gamification.
The Research Assistant will lead the research, design and practical development of mobile and gamified (graphical) user interfaces, engage with stakeholders/users, carry out design and technical feasibility testing, support for evaluation of the impact and effectiveness of new and innovative applications through the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, and dissemination of findings.
CROWD4ROADS stands for "CROWD sensing and ride sharing FOR ROAD Sustainability". This project will exploit games and gamification design in the research, development and evaluation of user engagement, interfaces and experience with crowd-sourcing applications.
The Research Assistant will also participate in other research activities (with a particular focus on Games Science) within the Disruptive Media Learning Lab (DMLL):
