The Centre for Mobility and Transport is looking for a Research Associate as part of the iVMS project. The Intelligent Variable Message Systems (iVMS) project will create an app to provide journey guidance advice which is incentivised and designed to balance the users individual journey needs with the demand on, capacity of and management of the highway network. Routing advice will exploit the principle of load sharing in order to maximise journey performance across the system.
The work with other project partners (Coventry City Council, Siemens Plc, Horiba MIRA, SGIL) will involve the development of a traffic simulation model including a number of key corridors to predict the traffic at short, medium and long term and provide an optimised set of routing strategies to the app. The focus of the work in Coventry University will be on driver behaviour modelling including response to route guidance and incentive schemes. Prior experience with driver modelling, traffic simulation environment such as Vissim, Vissum and SUMO as well as a good knowledge of C++ and MATLAB programming will be a strong plus.
This will be a fixed-term contract with an end date of 30 March 2018. Salary is commensurate with experience and is competitive. Interested candidates should include a CV and brief summary of research accomplishments with their application.
