Coventry University has been investing strongly in research excellence, with an additional investment of GBP 100 million in research, plus a total spend of GBP 150 million in its estate and facilities, including for Environmental Science research. The University has also established several new Research Centres, one of which, the Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience (CAWR), has Water research at its heart (see below).
THE CENTRE FOR AGROECOLOGY, WATER AND RESILIENCE (CAWR)
The Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience (CAWR) was established in 2014 and is driving innovative, internationally excellent and interdisciplinary research on the understanding and development of instability and resilience in water and food systems. CAWR has been recruiting many new early career and senior staff, including Professors, Readers, Research Fellows,and ECRs. This initiative is further supported by funds for new resources,labs, software, hardware and instrumentation. CAWR has already grown to almost 50 research staff, with 30 PhD students.
This is a senior post for a very experienced researcher and is equivalent to an Associate Professorship or Readership. Successful candidates have the exceptional opportunity to help shape the work and strategy of the Centre in this exciting phase and help drive our future growth. Limited teaching is expected, and this will be at Masters or PhD level.
Funding of more than GBP 1,500,000 has allowed the purchase of a new Mass Spectrometer, development of 5 labs, laboratory instruments, and for fieldwork. Research Technicians run the labs to support both lab and field research.
This is an excellent opportunity for an senior Water Quality Scientist to work in a large interactive research Centre and further develop the labs.
