Job description
The Research Centre for Data Science, based in the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Computing (EE&C), provides a hub to develop cutting edge research in the area of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Future Computing. The centre has a vocation to push the boundaries of both fundamental science and practical applications. As such the centre
feeds into applications across the University’s research portfolio.
The Centre for Data Science is looking for a number of ambitious early career academics with postdoctoral experience and an excellent publication record. Candidates should have a PhD in Computer Science, with proven expertise in Fundamental Machine Learning research. The post holder must be a highly proficient programmer and have prior research experience related specifically to Reinforcement Learning and its applications for solving real-life problems.
Successful candidates will have experience in teaching in Higher Education. Assistant Professors employed in the centre will have reduced teaching loads within the School of Computing Electronics and Mathematics, with a minimum of 60% protected time for research.
