Coventry University's new Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience (CAWR) will drive innovative transdisciplinary research on the development of resilient food and water systems throughout the world. The University Research Centre aims to be globally recognised for it's research excellence and influence on policy and practice. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic early career researcher to work with an existing team to develop and manage research projects around the theme of agroecological livestock systems.
You will develop and manage national and international research projects on agroecological livestock systems, that complement the Centre's existing and on- going work on agroecological cropping systems, with a focus on holistic grazing management, agrosilvopastoral systems, nutrition and health, and other integrative and participatory approaches that address issues of climate change, resilience and food security.
Responsibilities will include developing research objectives, projects or proposals, whilst also identifying and obtaining sources of external funding. You will take lead responsibility for small/medium research projects or major parts of a large research programme, and will have the ability to carry out a project with minimal supervision as well as to gain the co-operation of others both in the UK and internationally. The use of project management, survey and other specialist research software would be advantageous.
In addition to completing a PhD, you will ideally have previous research experience in one of the following areas; holistic grazing management, agrosilvopastoral systems, animal health. You should be willing to travel to other organisations both within the UK and abroad, Language skills would be an advantage.
