Coventry University has made rapid advances in its research excellence recently and has retained its title of top modern UK University for the last seven years (Guardian University Guide 2019). The University established several research centres, including the Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience (CAWR) in 2014. CAWR is driving innovative, transdisciplinary, internationally excellent and outstanding research on the understanding and development of processes, instability and resilience in natural water and food systems. This University Research Centre aims to be globally recognised for its research excellence and influence on policy and practice. Funding of more than £1,500,000 allowed the purchase of a new ultra-high performance liquid chromatographer-tandem mass spectrometer (uHPLC-MS) and other laboratory instrumentation for five new laboratories supporting field sampling and monitoring in CAWR.
This new Assistant Professor position in Environmental Analytical Chemistry lies in the Fundamental Processes and Resilience group that focusses on Fluvial Processes, Water Quality and Treatment, Urban Water, Hydrology, Climate and Environmental Change. This post is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to develop research programmes, secure funding, build and strengthen networks with national and international partners, lead and manage research projects. The aim is for the Assistant Professor to actively engage with excellence in terms of both the Research Excellence Framework (REF) and impact on policy and practice.
For this post we are specifically seeking expertise in pollution transport, particularly New and Emerging Pollutants, but including other pollutants, in diverse environmental media. Also, we seek expertise in the development of new methods for their monitoring and analysis in diverse environments, their transport under changing climate and land use scenarios to complement our existing natural science-based team.
