The School of Art and Design is an internationally recognised, award-winning School, with a tradition of innovation since 1843 and our alumni inform, create and shape the world around us. This role will support a School-wide teaching and learning strategy that will bring Design Thinking to the core of the School of Art & Design and the wider Faculty of Arts and Humanities; it will also support of the University's on-going commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. We are seeking an academic and active researcher/practitioners with an established profile in Design Thinking to join our thriving School.
With a background in Design Thinking, innovation, service design, emergent forms of Design,and/or related areas of creative practice and research, you will lead on the integration of Design Thinking in the Faculty's portfolio; both in terms of new UG/PG provision, and in terms of innovative approaches to established Design Art teaching and new trans-disciplinary programmes. The post-holder should have a developing research profile in scholarly or practice-based research with ambition to contribute to the School's growing research agenda and must have a proven track record of exploring new and emerging modes of practice and scholarship.
Applicants should be qualified at least to Masters Level (or of equivalent professional status) and be able to relate the key debates framing the location and transformation of Design Thinking in contemporary culture and to UK Higher Education. They should have a proven track record of delivering a first-class student experience within HE. Experience of education innovation would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate high level digital fluency and a continuing engagement with professional, scholarly and pedagogic development - those without a teaching qualification will be required to undertake Coventry University's PGCHE or secure a HEA fellowship.
