Working in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace & Automotive Engineering, you will be committed to contributing to our continued success in delivery of engineering programmes. You will join a School with high levels of teaching quality and student satisfaction (ranked in the Guardian University Guide 2020 in the country's top three for our courses in Mechanical Engineering).
The successful candidate will have experience in Systematic Engineering Design and its influence as a product progresses through Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRLs - or similar project management tools). The candidate will have recent applied experience of Computer-Aided Design (CAD). Within the role they should be able to relate current industrial best practice techniques into a manageable format that students can realistically engage with, to ensure a rigorous approach to the design discipline. The design curriculum includes (but not limited to); Product Bill of Materials (PBoM) and Quality Assurance (QA) evaluation techniques.
You will need to share our passion for delivering a positive student experience that puts excellence in teaching and learning at the heart of everything we do and will be able to demonstrate significant knowledge in your area of specialisation and support the school’s research culture. You will be expected to undertake design and delivery of teaching that is engaging, innovative and responsive that achieves excellent student learning outcomes. You must be willing to work flexibly and promote and support international partnerships, as well as potentially deliver teaching onsite at one of our international partners.
The candidate should be qualified to PhD level in a relevant subject. Alternatively, candidates with relevant industrial experience to an equivalent level are also encouraged to apply
Experience of working on applied research projects or contracts, as well as participation in professional practice/consultancy will be advantageous
The position is primarily open to candidates who wish to focus on teaching practice, development and management. However, successful candidates will also have the opportunity to apply to become an Associate Member of one of our Research Centres.
Exceptional candidates will be considered for the Assistant Professor role.
