Working in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace & Automotive Engineering, you will be committed to contributing to our continued success in delivery of engineering programmes. You will join a School with high levels of teaching quality and student satisfaction (ranked in the Guardian University Guide 2020 in the country's top three for our courses in Mechanical Engineering).
You must be able to contribute to the delivery of manufacturing management modules to various cohorts of students including part time industrial students. The candidate must be fluent with manufacturing management and manufacturing standards, manufacturing processes and systems, new product introduction and the concepts/techniques of Lean and Agile Systems.
The candidate should have the ability to enhance and improve the current material and virtual learning platform and as such should have a specialism in either operations management or Lean/Agile systems engineering. Whilst not essential recent experience of manufacturing industry would be advantageous as would membership of a professional body.
You will need to share our passion for delivering a positive student experience that puts excellence in teaching and learning at the heart of everything we do and will be able to demonstrate significant knowledge in your area of specialisation and support the school’s research culture. You will be expected to undertake design and delivery of teaching that is engaging, innovative and responsive that achieves excellent student learning outcomes. You must be willing to work flexibly and promote and support international partnerships, as well as potentially deliver teaching onsite at one of our international partners.
The candidate should be qualified to PhD level in a relevant subject. Alternatively, candidates with relevant industrial experience to an equivalent level are also encouraged to apply
Experience of working on applied research projects or contracts, as well as participation in professional practice/consultancy will be advantageous
The position is primarily open to candidates who wish to focus on teaching practice, development and management. However, successful candidates will also have the opportunity to apply to become an Associate Member of one of our Research Centres.
