An exciting opportunity has arisen for a determined, dynamic and organised individual to join Coventry University’s Group Tax and Compliance Department that sits within the over-arching Finance department within the University as a Tax Planning and Reporting Manager – Direct tax focus. This post joins a small team that ensures that the entire group meets its legislative tax requirements to provide operational and strategic support, advice and filings on behalf of the entire group which includes both UK and overseas entities.
This newly created role will join a small team of tax professionals reporting directly to the Group Strategic Tax and Compliance manager in supporting the operational and advisory function of the team joining one half of a two manager team (the 2nd manager focusing on Indirect taxes under an already established role), The main responsibilities of the role will be the first point of contact for all operational corporate and direct tax queries from internal and external stakeholders, whilst also managing the operational creation and submission of the group’s Corporation tax returns, gift aid returns, group relief calculations, deferred tax notes and calculations and all other associated direct tax requirements for the group. The role will also support the business in other areas of taxation including but not limited to International taxation, payroll and IR35 support and working with the indirect tax manager to provide support during busy periods. The role will also manage and develop one direct tax assistant.
This role would be suited to an organised, highly motivated individual as the small team is often subject to very strict, tight deadlines and very detailed advisory outputs due to the nature of the group’s ambitious and busy position within the University Sector. The successful candidate will be committed to improving and developing the direct tax function and providing a high level of skill and advice for the entire group.
