We are looking for an experienced, committed and passionate Research Fellow to join the UKRI GCRF South-South Migration, Inequality and Development Hub. Specifically, the Research Fellow will contribute to the development and implementation of a programme of work exploring how migration intermediaries (e.g. social networks, labour recruiters, travel agents, smugglers) influence the migration process as well as inequalities and ultimately, development. Research on migration intermediaries is an challenging and fast-evolving area.
The UKRI GCRF South-South Migration, Inequality and Development Hub is a network of research and delivery partners from 12 countries constituting six Global South-South migration 'corridors' between which there is significant migration of people, resources and knowledge (Haiti-Brazil, China-Ghana, Ethiopia-South Africa, Burkina Faso- Cote d'Ivoire, Nepal-Malaysia, Egypt-Jordan). The Hub's overarching objective is to establishan interdisciplinary, evidence-based understanding of the multi dimensional relationships between migration, inequality and development to support the work of civil society, policy makers, international organisations, donors and local communities worldwide. Research on migration intermediaries will be conducted primarily in three corridors: Haiti-Brazil, Nepal-Malaysia and Egypt-Jordan. For more information on the Hub, please see:
