Research Associate in Nuclear Structural Materials (Lloyd's Register Foundation)
2 year Fixed Term
An excellent research opportunity is available for a post-doctoral candidate with a background in materials science or physics.
The post is a two-year appointment, funded by the Lloyds' Register Foundation through the International Joint Research Centre in Nuclear Safety. The iJRC is led by Lancaster University, partnering with Coventry University, the University of Tennessee, and Harbin Engineering University. The Centre spans a range of research in conventional and novel materials and systems for nuclear power plant. The researcher will work primarily on the study of advanced materials (for example MAX phases) for nuclear power plants. The researcher will network across the research undertaken within the consortium at partner institutions, and liaise with industrial and international partners.
You should have a background in materials science or physics. Ideally you will have experience of advanced modelling techniques at the atomistic level (for example density functional theory) and solid state physics of surfaces.
For Informal enquiries about the post can be made to Prof. Alex Chroneos (ab8104@coventry.ac.uk).
