Are you an enthusiastic health or social care academic committed to interprofessional education (IPE) and looking for a new challenge? Come and join us.
Coventry University is achieving an unprecedented level of success. Having earned a place in the 2020 Times Higher Education Young University Rankings' world top 250, secured 26th spot in the 2021 Guardian league table, No.1 Modern University in the Midlands (Guardian University Guide 2021), and achieved a gold rating in the UK government's Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), our vision is to continue to enhance our position as a leading provider of innovative education and impactful research both nationally and across the world.
With 10,000 students the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences is a key part of this dynamic and innovative university group, with excellent links to major national and international organisations and close partnerships with universities around the world. The Faculty is home to the largest selection of forward thinking health and social care courses in the Midlands. It’s no surprise our courses in Nursing and Midwifery are ranked 4th in Guardian University Guide 2020, and four subject areas are in the top 10 for the Complete University Guide 2020: Occupational Therapy, Food Science, Forensic Science and Physiotherapy.
The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health is one of the largest Schools in the University and delivers undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral courses for a range of health professions including; nursing, midwifery, nursing associates, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, paramedic science, operating department practice, assistant practitioners and most recently diagnostic radiography. We also have a large portfolio of CPD courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels including Advanced Clinical Practice and Non-Medical prescribing.
IPE has had a long and innovative journey at Coventry University and currently embedded within the pre-registration health courses within the School. The focus of the current strategy enables students to learn with, from and about each other, across the life of their course with an emphasis on making a difference to people’s lives through collaborative working. Students engage both face to face and online both in the classroom, online and in practice. This role will provide the opportunity to oversee the delivery of the IPE strategy and relevant strands across the widening suite of health courses within the School, which span three locations– Coventry, Scarborough and London. In addition, the successful applicant will lead the first year module ‘Health and Wellbeing in the Community’. This module, delivered by multiple course teams, operates from the Coventry campus, but also at Scarborough, and moving forward, London. This role will also enable the successful applicant to develop our vision for IPE and thus contribute to the review, evaluation and further development of IPE at Coventry.
The School is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and collaborative leader who is passionate about IPE. Previous experience of teaching and leading IPE within a Higher Education Institution is highly desirable and your application should detail your areas of teaching experience and expertise.
Informal enquiries should be addressed to Pat Bluteau, Associate Head of School, Hsx196@coventry.ac.uk
