Maintaining our focus on creating and managing inspiring spaces for both students and staff, the Estates Operations and Maintenance Team based at the heart of our city centre campus are seeking to recruit an experienced and committed individual to coordinate and monitor all on-site works through in-house teams and contractors. They will ensure that we provide a customer-focused planned and reactive maintenance service. Assisting in fault finding and implementing solutions, you will be technically knowledgeable in a wide scope of building services repairs, modifications and improvements - passing knowledge of systems to frontline teams.
Maintaining the smooth running of the campus, you will need to ensure minimal disruption of all contracted works and will provide a single point of contact across the campus to review ongoing works. Your good communication skills will enable you to develop good customer relationships and you will need to work closely with staff and students to ensure that works are planned appropriately around campus activity. You will take customer briefs and provide quotes, drawings and specifications for planned maintenance and minor works projects.
Responsible for all of our external contractors, you will ensure that contractors operate safely and to the highest quality levels, regularly reviewing service reports, risk assessments and method statements for all onsite works. You will continually monitor performance and will encourage a process of continuous improvement through lean process methods.
With an HND or HNC (or equivalent) in electrical or building services discipline you will ideally hold a City and Guilds qualification. You will have substantial experience of acting as quality controller on small projects and operational works with a budget of between GBP 1,000 and GBP 1million where you can demonstrate your attention to detail in auditing workmanship and delivering value for money. You will be environmentally aware and will have a good knowledge of carbon and energy reduction technologies. Good IT skills with experience of working on industry software such as Plannon, as well as Excel, Word and Powerpoint is essential.
