The School of Psychological, Social, and Behavioural Sciences seeks to appoint a full time Lecturer in Social Work to contribute to the provision of high-quality teaching and research within the School. You will join our highly regarded team of academics delivering on our successful pre- qualifying BA Social Work, MA Social Work and the Degree Apprenticeship programmes accredited by Social Work England.
The social work programmes have a strong emphasis on social justice and critical pedagogy and seek to develop in students a passion for social work, intellectual understanding and personal insight and integrity. Practice wisdom, professional practice skills, inter – professional and international perspectives are threaded throughout the course. You will be expected to recognise the value of these distinctive features and will be committed to developing an exciting, innovative, and research informed learning environment.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated person to undertake core teaching, assessment, and curriculum development within the social work programmes. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the design, delivery and assessment of range of modules and applicants with a strong professional background in either adult or children’s services and knowledge of the Social Work Degree Apprenticeships will be welcome.
You will be a confident and clear communicator with a high level of interpersonal skill, and personal effectiveness to promote an outstanding student experience. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills and will be required to contribute to course management and academic administrative duties. You will have a strong commitment to continuing professional development and to inter-professional and international social work perspectives. You will be a highly motivated and experienced academic and/or practitioner with a demonstrable record of accomplishment in Social Work.

Applicants must have either a relevant master’s degree or a PhD in relevant subject and experience of delivering in an educational setting or if from a Professional Practice background, demonstrate the ability to deliver in an HEI setting. A professional qualification in social work, social work experience and eligibility for registration with Social Work England is required.
