The Faculty of Business and Law has a newly formed Research Centre in Financial and Corporate Integrity (FCI) that provides a 'hub' for researchers to explore the synergetic and inter-disciplinary nature of problems facing businesses, such as accountability, integrity, governance, ethics, risk and compliance.
The purpose of this post is to provide a unique opportunity for a PhD graduate to pursue a structured career pathway via a new Horizon 2020 funded project called PROTAX which is led by FCI. Under line management supervision and guidance, you will contribute to the PROTAX project by applying the philosophical and methodological expertise gained from your doctoral studies to the delivery of the project with an emphasis on detection and prosecution of tax crimes in the European Union;designing and conducting literature reviews and case studies; planning and managing data collection; analysing and interpreting research outcomes in report form; contributing to the preparation of proposals for new research projects, and disseminating research through publishing as leadauthor/co-author in peer reviewed journals and conference papers.
The position is for 3 years (duration of PROTAX) with a possibility of extension (subject to further funding).
The candidate should have a sound understanding of tax law and policies in the European Union (EU) and, in particular, tax fraud and evasion practices, as revealed in the Panama Papers,LUX Leaks and Paradise papers, among various other examples.
The post-holder will be expected to liaise with project partners (mainly law enforcement agencies) and other stakeholders across the EU and internationally and to deliver high quality research and project outputs in a collaborative and supportive research-intensive environment.
