Reporting to the Head of School with a functional reporting line to the Faculty's Associate Dean - Enterprise and Commercial, you will have specific responsibility for developing the Enterprise and Commercial agenda across the School, ensuring portfolio objectives are understood and applied effectively in fulfilment of the University's Mission Statement and Corporate Plan.
With guidance from the Associate Dean - Enterprise & Commercial (ADEC), you will interpret and apply the Faculty Enterprise & Commercialisation (E&C) strategies throughout the School. You will work with colleagues in CU Services Ltd and the Enterprise and Innovation Unit to support academic colleagues to realize these strategies. You will work closely with fellow AHoS appointees assigned differing portfolios, both within their Faculty and School, and with the Associate Deans and peers carrying Enterprise & Commercial responsibilities to ensure best practice across the University.
You will be expected to network proactively and develop public and private sector health related partnerships at a national and international level. You will also work closely with colleagues in developing partnerships with major corporate clients to ensure opportunities for the School are identified and delivered.
Supporting colleagues within the School you will identify and advise on enterprise opportunities for the School's discipline areas. You will lead the development of assigned staff in the development and delivery of CPD/ consultancy, and knowledge transfer activity. In addition, you will oversee the delivery of a range of CPD, Summer School and Consultancy activities, ensuring that financial returns are achieved by the School. This position will require you to represent the School internally, externally and internationally.
Each Associate Head of School post embraces two distinct aspects; a portfolio-focused element and an academic role at Principal Lecturer level (or above). Our intention is that you should contribute significantly in both capacities and develop your potential for advancement within the University. Whilst this is a permanent appointment, tenure to the specialist Associate Head of School element will be by way of a secondment of 4 years. Teaching, research and scholarly activity will be delivered through your substantive academic role and you will participate fully as a member of the School management team.
You will expected to have or be committed to working towards a PhD together with experience in a relevant subject area (or an equivalent level of professional experience and a relevant postgraduate degree) alongside a record of academic excellence and of delivering an innovative, student-centred curriculum.
