The Research Delivery Support Unit within the Research Office, is a centrally managed Unit responsible for the Research Management and Administration of University Research within Faculties and across University and Faculty Research Centres.
This opportunity is based in the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Computing and will be based in the Faculty Research Support Team. You will be part of a small team responsible for providing professional administrative services to support a variety of activities within the research work-stream of the Faculty.
As one of the senior members of the team, you will provide a high level of professional administrative and research support to the Faculty Research Leadership Team. Alongside supporting a team of research administrators with the day-to-day operational tasks, you will specifically take the lead on ethics administration on behalf of the Faculty. This involves working closely with the Faculty Ethics Leaders and reporting and overseeing the administration of the system. You will also have the opportunity to support the delivery of ethics training to both our staff and students.
Working under the supervision of the Research Support Manager, you will also be given the opportunity to get involved with and support a number of research projects and events.
You should be qualified to degree level or equivalent and have experience of working in a senior administrative role. Significant experience of using Microsoft Office and a variety of software packages and computerised management information systems are essential. You will be able to demonstrate substantial experience of and competence in using MS Excel along with demonstrable experience of data handling including data collection, input to electronic systems, analysing,interpreting and manipulating data and producing reports.
You should be a strong team player and have strong communication skills. You should be comfortable working under pressure, prioritising work and co-ordinating and managing complex activities to meet competing deadlines. Attention to detail and the ability to use your own initiative are essential. Previous experience or a working knowledge of ethics and governance would be an advantage.
