Reporting to the Head of School with a functional reporting line to the Faculty's Associate Dean - Quality and Accreditation, you will have specific responsibility for developing the Quality and Accreditation agenda across the School, ensuring portfolio objectives are understood and applied effectively in fulfilment of the University's Mission Statement and Corporate Plan.
You will work with guidance from the Associate Dean - Quality & Accreditation (ADQA) to interpret and apply the Faculty Quality & Accreditation (Q&A) strategies throughout the School. In addition you will ensure the university's policies are applied consistently to course design, approvals and reviews so that regulatory compliance is achieved. The role involves leading on approval processes and external validations.
We will expect you to lead on the School's Quality Assurance and enhancement activity including on and off-campus delivery such as CPD, online, blended and distance learning. Working closely with senior colleagues and peers, you will network proactively throughout the University to establish best Q&A practice consistently within the School and throughout the institution. This will include ensuring cross-group courses are appropriately monitored and quality assured.
Alongside AHoS colleagues and under the guidance of the Associate Dean, you will be expected to ensure the School contributes to the annual review of CQEMs in the Faculty's Annual Report, monitoring CQEMS and delivering action plans to enhance courses. You will prepare the School for QAA audits and all accreditation events.
Liaison with accreditation bodies is a key part of this role ensuring links are established/developed and necessary actions taken to gain appropriate accreditations throughout the School. The post-holder is responsible for maximising all professional accreditation opportunities for courses and subjects within the School.
You will be expected to oversee the Academic Misconduct process within the School, working closely with the Associate Dean, Faculty Registrar and Registry to ensure full compliance with Regulations. It will be your responsibility to oversee the annual summary of Reviews and Appeals produced by the Group Policy Unit to identify and proactively address recurring themes. This will require further liaison with colleagues and peers.
Each Associate Head of School post embraces two distinct aspects; a portfolio-focused element and an academic role at Principal Lecturer level (or above). Our intention is that you should contribute significantly in both capacities and develop your potential for advancement within the University.Whilst this is a permanent appointment, tenure to the specialist Associate Head of School element will be by way of a secondment of 4 years.

Teaching, research and scholarly activity will be delivered through your substantive academic role and you will participate fully as a member of the School management team.
You will be expected to have a PhD together with experience in a relevant subject area (or an equivalent level of professional experience and a relevant Postgraduate degree) alongside a record of academic excellence and of delivering an innovative,student-centred curriculum.
