Assistant Lecturer in Paramedic Science
Job description
This post represents an ideal development opportunity for a registered paramedic who wishes to embark upon an academic career but may have limited teaching experience. The successful applicant will be facilitated to complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education and an appropriate level 6 degree (if not already achieved).
The successful applicant
will be expected to focus initially upon clinical skills teaching (both theoretical and practical), but will be supported to diversify into the full range of academic delivery as they gain experience. With the qualifications and development opportunities available, the successful post-holder will be in an excellent position to apply for future Lecturer and Senior Lecturer positions as they become available.
The school of Nursing, Midwifery and Health are proud of the diversity and range of the paramedic courses provided, which are shortly to be complimented by a newly validated BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science. Coventry University is also placed 15th in the UK University league tables (The Guardian University Guide 2020) and recently received a gold TEF rating signifying, 'consistently outstanding teaching learning and outcomes' (Office for Students, 2018).
Our paramedic teaching provision is also one of the most established and highly regarded in the country, and we work collaboratively with a wide range of health care professions within the Faculty of Health and Life sciences. We also now have the benefit of the new, 'state of the art' health science simulation facilities; a GBP 60M+ investment which includes a bespoke clinical skills labs and an ambulance simulator.
