The Centre for Business in Society (CBiS) is a research hub for the Faculty of Business and Law at Coventry University and is now amongst the most successful research centres in the UK. Through understanding the impact of organisations’ activities, behaviours and policies, our research promotes responsibility and seeks better outcomes for economies, environments, societies and individuals (www.coventry.ac.uk/research/areas-of-research/business-in-society/). There are four research clusters, focussing on: (1) big data and the digital economy; (2) inclusive economic development and green growth; (3) the circular economy in terms of sustainability in supply chains and ethical consumption; (4) sector studies, including responsible personal finance. CBiS has 30 full-time research staff, over 20 associated staff, fifteen Professors and Readers, a large support team, eight Visiting Professors and over one hundred Doctoral candidates.
The post holder will be part of CBiS’s quality assurance leadership team and co-lead one of our research clusters. Our Data, Organisations and Society cluster wishes to strengthen its data and strategy theme, recruiting an experienced researcher interested in working with businesses on strategy and marketing questions relating to big data. Our Economic Development cluster welcomes applications from proven candidates with research interests that play to the ‘levelling up’ agenda, social inequalities, productivity and growth, workplace inclusivity, urban regeneration and renewal, and various forms and roles of placemaking. Our Sustainable Production and Consumption cluster seeks an experienced researcher interested in aspects of the circular economy, sustainability issues within the supply chain or promoting more ethical consumption in society. Our Sector Studies cluster is looking to strengthen its focus on reducing the financial vulnerability of individuals, particularly those in more disadvantaged groups. We will consider applications from any established Business and Management researcher whose interests clearly align to one or more of our research clusters.
The post holder will be part of a dynamic research leadership team, actively contributing to the research strategy and activities of CBiS, supporting our PhD and DBA candidates, and developing their own research agenda. The post holder will co-lead one of our research clusters, and support the quality assurance process for CBiS’s bids, staff professional development programme and the critical reviewing of colleagues’ publications. Candidates therefore must have an established and proven track record of creating and managing research projects, securing research funding, networking, delivering REFable outputs and of collaborating across disciplines. Further details are available from Professor Lyndon Simkin, Executive Director of CBiS.
Interviews will be held on January 11th 2022 in Coventry.
