At Coventry University we are in the next stage of our ambitious plans to secure future growth and success. During this corporate plan cycle we have been investing GBP 100 million in research. Additionally, our Estates development includes the newly opened GBP 60 million Science and Health building that provides a range of sector leading practical facilities for health simulation and life sciences research and teaching. We are now seeking exceptional candidates to join us on our journey of enhancing research in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.
The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences has 3 newly configured Research Centres for:
Advances in Behavioural Science; Innovative Research Across the Life Course; and Sport, Exercise and Life Sciences. We are particularly proud of our performance in UoA 3 Allied Health Professions in REF (Research Excellence Framework) 2014 and believe that we have further developed our research capacity and performance in each subject area since then.
Supporting the Academic Dean, this is an opportunity for an outstanding individual to lead the Faculty Research Strategy, ensuring that our strategic objectives impact upon research, enterprise and teaching. Working closely with the support teams and Research Centre Executive Directors, you will be expected to ensure the Faculty meets its Corporate Plan objectives for research, whilst ensuring that we support and develop our researchers.
The Associate Dean for Research will be a member of the University's Research Leadership Group and be expected to make an important contribution to the development and delivery of both Faculty and University Research strategy. The post holder will be required to: lead the high quality research portfolio of the Faculty; take responsibility for the development of a vibrant and effective research environment; and build strong capacity for impact, including oversight of our next submission to REF units of assessment relevant to the Faculty.
You should have a PhD in a relevant discipline and a track record of delivering national and international level research outputs. You will have extensive experience in both research leadership and preparation for national evaluations of research excellence, relevant to our disciplines. It is likely that you will be currently working as a Professor, with a strong background in health and/or life sciences and evidence of attracting quality grants for research work.
We are committed to providing outstanding individual career development and offer a comprehensive benefits package. We will consider assistance for those wishing to relocate to the Coventry area.
