The national Institute of Coding is a government initiative launched in 2018 that brings together universities, industry, training providers and professional bodies to address the UK's digital skills gaps. The Institute is led by the University of Bath and supported by the theme leaders - Coventry University, Aston University, the Open University and Manchester Metropolitan University.
Our vision is to enhance the education and employability of every IoC learner and ensure that employers and individuals across the UK can access the digital skills they need to compete in the global digital economy. This unique and innovative collaboration has been made possible with GBP 20m from the Office for Students and match funding from universities and industry partners. The IOC will develop and deliver innovative, industry-focused higher education across the UK. It will develop accredited degree programmes and short courses aimed at professionals, as well as working to widen the participation of women, returners to work, and hard to reach groups. Digital skills are becoming important in a range of professions so we also aim to target these multiple industry sectors; including manufacturing, transport, healthcare, and the creative economy. As a core partner, Coventry University is committed to the success of the IOC, and we are establishing a dedicated team to achieve this.

The Business Development Coordinator role is an integral part of the Coventry University IoC team. The post holder will support the Business Development Manager, playing a key role in developing new relationships with businesses in priority industry sectors. We are looking for people with business development and sales experience. You will have experience of working in a skills/learning & development environment with business clients would be advantageous. It is important that the you will have a good understanding of the technical areas of coding and other digital skills. We are(ideally) looking for people with experience of working in our target sectors -either one or more of the following: Advanced manufacturing, transport(particularly automotive), healthcare, and the creative economy. The role involves working directly with industry contacts to establish specific digital skills needs/requirements, support the development of new industry-focused programmes, in collaboration with appropriate academic staff, and support industry learners to succeed.
